I'm coming to fight for Eagles shirt, Agbo declares

New Super Eagles invitee, Uche Agbo has declared that he is not coming into the team as a tourist who would play no role when Nigeria faces Zambia away in a crucial Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier on October 9 in Ndola.

Agbo who was called up in place of injured Germany based Leon Balogun told africafootball.com yesterday that he would fight to pick a shirt in the team.

He stressed that he is happy to be coming into the team same time with his former team mate and bosom friend Isaac Success. Both players played together in Granada before Success moved to Watford.

"(Isaac) Success has already called to tell me that even though this will be our first-ever invitations to the Super Eagles, we will go all out to fight to make the first team. Both of us have longed to play for the Eagles and as it were, we were called up the same time," Agbo told africafootball.com.

It would be noted that the former Nigeria U20 defensive midfielder has now been deployed as a central defender by his La Liga club Granada.

Meanwhile, Chipolopolo star, Collins Mbesuma has sent out a goal threatening warning by notching his 100th PSL goal against Cape Town City at Makhulong Stadium on Tuesday night to express his gameness for next month's World Cup qualifier against Gernot Rohr's men.

The stocky forward did so with a trademark left foot finish to become the fifth player to have notched up a 100 goals, and the only player still active in the PSL to have reached the milestone in the colors of a local top flight club as his Highlands Park played out a 1-1 draw with Cape Town City.

Mbesuma's volley in the 73rd minute earned his side a point after Lebogang Manyama had put visiting City ahead four minutes earlier at the Makhulong Stadium.

The 32-year-old forward was also on target in his side's 3-2 defeat at Polokwane City, as Highland Park now place 10th on the South African topflight log with five points from four games.

With this imposing form of Mbesuma, Nigeria defenders must be at their best to stop him when the Chipolopolo welcome the Super Eagles to Ndola when the race to 2018 Fifa World Cup commences on October 9.

The former Portsmouth goal poacher was recalled to the national team by coach Wedson Nyirenda after serving his suspension.
